She's to pitch up in London in a couple of weeks, along with the other two girls and the three boys for a photoshoot and interview. Each 'winner' gets a contract with this major agency. It guarantees nothing though.. If she wins, she'll just keep on her present path to Hons Psychology/Computing come September and fit in any paid modelling jobs---- if they come along. She''s not a runway model per se, cos she doesn't have the stick-thin clothes-horse look, she's more Amazonian . Better suited to commercial photography work, pop videos, that kind of thing. Meanwhile she got a call from an upmarket bar/restaurant she'd handed a CV into the other week (one of many) and got a trial shift last night. She called me two hours in to say she'd landed a part-time job, starts tomorrow. ;D So a great week, all in all, for Ms R. She just left for a birthday party @ VodkaWodka but intends getting home by the witching hour, keen as she is to make a good impression at her work tomorrow! ;D ;D ;D Maybe like her ma and da, the harder she works the luckier she'll get...

20 next month, Bormes. I can barely take that in.. And at 6', just overtaken her dad.....she towered over her wee ma at 14... ;D ;D ;D First shift went well, she's practically 'at home' in this restaurant/bar being Catalan tapas, Estrella and tempranillo all round! ;D Lovely young people at the birthday do on Saturday didn't last long in VodkaWodka, apparently about a thousand tourists in, so took refuge in Brel instead------free of the Ashton weekend oompaloompas! ;D

Pee ess, funny wee story from the wean last night. Out in the back green @ Brel she remembered, as a tiny wee tot, finding a tenner in the back garden of Grosvenor Cafe. Of course I did my mum-ly duty and we handed it in at the cash desk. Only to be told to keep it. Hope it wisnae yours, B!!!!

Hello, gang ;D I just got home from an amazing Todd Rundgren gig at ABC tonight, wean rushes to meet me at the door with the news she got her exam results by email earlier. She's through with a high B grade average and now has a guaranteed place in Honours come September. ;D It feels like a small miracle, given the paucity of ambition in her urban Glasgow state secondary where teaching standards are pitched to the lowest level of attainment. Damage done much earlier in these kids' lives... But again, a huge big thanks to everyone who pays taxes in Scotland thus allowing my girl and thousands of others to take university places, free of tuition charges that so many of us couldn't otherwise afford. Never taken for granted.
