Well don't tell anyone I said this, right, but my office is near Strathclyde Uni and I see Prof Curtis most days, he wanders about past our window on Candleriggs looking shabby in some anorak or another, quite often with sandals, even in the winter.... I imagine his job isn't really that difficult. There are only ever gonna be what, three scenarios? And he sure seems to spend a helluva lot of time out of the office, shall we say.... The miracle to me is seeing him trotted out day in day out on Scottish political shows, and he's obviously wrestled himsel into some suit and tie thing so's to try to appear 'professiorial'... ;D Don't even START me on Brian Taylor of BBC Scotland. If he was a woman he'd not be allowed anywhere NEAR the telly. Oh, and plus he's hideously biased and trotting out the same old until he can gracefully retire. As for Bernard Ponsonby of STV.............god help us. We have two great women political journalists; Kirsty Wark and Isabel Fraser. So move over, guys.........yer time's up.

Don't even START me on Brian Taylor of BBC Scotland. Hate to ask/need to check, or be the one to tell you: but you are aware, yes? of the fact that of all the BBC political corespondents' online blogs, Brian's is the only one that has had the comments section closed in recent times, yes....? (like, since the triumph of the SNP at the last Holyrood elections)? Comments are enabled for Mark Devenport, Political Ed, N. Ireland; for Betsan Powys, Political Editor, Wales; and for the bliddy woeful Nick Robinson, of course. But not for Brian Taylor...only the main one that most obviously should have comments enabled. His comments section was switched off shortly after the last Holyrood elections. It is a damnable disgrace, and if you complain about it at all you're labelled as this thing called a "cybernat". I advise everyone who disagrees with this easily verifiable fact to make a complaint to the BBC, and to immediately stop paying the licence fee. Believe me, they can't jail everyone who would do so, and there are nowhere near the resources to prosecute everyone who would be inclined so to do. Even if there were, the prosecution would not have even half a leg to stand on. So: bring it on. As the First Minister has recently pointed out, the BBC is Scotland's state broadcaster - we have no choice in that matter and are forced at point of law to pay for it - and the way it gets away with treating Scotland is a damned disgrace. Um. Er.....?

(For Westie clause 4.22 of the Fraser Enquiry) Why she was on it I dont know. I dont think she has any in depth knowledge of building

Yeah, Westie, I'm aware of the closing down of the comments. I can only imagine this was a protective shield flung around a biased correspondent, indeed organisation. But hey, what do I know. It has to be said that there are a few embarrassments in the SNP ranks just as there are extremists in any political party. Let's just say the few that give it Braveheart-ism aren't welcomed and indeed frozen out by the majority. We're pro-Scottish, not anti-English or any other race come to that.... As for the Parly building, Oz, you seem to have more of a bee in your bonnet that anyone here in Scotland does. I really don't know why you keep bringing it up, it's not an issue here ;D And I'd say to anyone that has comments to make, make em from an informed viewpoint; go visit and then tell us exactly how crap you think the building is and why. Cannae get more reasonable than that, can you?

No just pointing out I had actually heard of ms Wark and where.
I have no beef about design or the standard of workmanship of your Parliament Building I believe its magnificent.
My informed beef is about the amount of money needlessly spent on the project. If it had been built using different forms of contract a couple of hospitals could have been built out of the savings. I think that is worth getting annoyed about and shouldnt be forgotten

Well yeah it would be worth getting annoyed about if we didn't have enough hospitals. Except we do ;D The single biggest issue in Scotland re outrageous overspends is the Edinburgh tram project, Oz. That and the brown envelope culture at Glasgow City Council....sadly we've a way to go on that, as it seems there's plenty who'd still vote for someone's deid dog if it was wearing a red rosette...

Have to say, if Jack McC had not been a position of power then Ms Wark would not have had so many "scoops" They went on holiday together and she would not give information to the public rtegards carrying on in the Parliament. I do not like her style much, I think she did well interviewing Thatcher then she has slid down gradually as time passes. Regards our parly building, I think it is hideous both inside and outside. It was a massive overspend just like the Trams however I was against it from the start as being a bit more happy with our traditional buildings I prefer them. May I also say that we should be cutting DOWN on the numbers elected and their support, we need LESS Government NOT more. Actually shutting hospitals is happening and people have died on the Loch Lomond side because of the extra journey times to Paisley, when the old Alexandria Hosp could have saved their lives. Totally agree with the brown envelope culture however it is not only Glasgow, it comes from the top. Look at Cooper or Balls, her brother in law, Balls's brother, 38 year old, making MILLIONS in the "City" $ years with this firm he earns 2.2 million and shares part of a 57 million bonus with 7 other directors, what do they say about that when they (Cooper and Balls) are constantly going on about "the fat Cats" and their earnings? Does he berate his brother for being a fat Cat? Does he fcuk, they are all pigs in the trough. Both sides.

I suspect Ms Wark might be friends with Mrs O' Connell due to Kirsty's interests in Arts and Culture, as Bridget heads up Culture and Sport at the Chambers..... Is there not a hospital at Vale of Leven any more, Bormes? The only major hospital I'm aware of closing was the Queen Mother maternity at Kelvingrove. One of the issues we might have is bed-blocking in hospitals due to lack of places to send the elderly whose families won't/can't look after them?

Labour retain overall control of Glasgow City Council. Eck's ceremonial unicorn ride into George Sq has been cancelled. Sturgeon and Hunter posted missing. GETITRIGHTUPYE ! Blimey. How pathetic is this? Infantile, delusional fool. Screech like a banshee as much as you like, but London Labour is fucked, there is no Scottish Labour, and the union is finished. Nothing hides those facts. And so the actual facts emerge. Labour in Glasgow... dirty, greasy, shameless shower of shit. " ...So, today the Red Flag flies over the City Chambers once again. In reality, it should be an Orange one.
With opinion polls showing that the SNP were polling ahead of Labour, a panicked Gordon Matheson sought a meeting on the Monday before the election. A SCUP candidate in Glasgow has confirmed the reports of Glasgow-based journalist Gerry Braiden that in that meeting, in the Evangelical Church, Matheson said he would allow the fascist bigots of the Orange Order free reign to march in Glasgow's streets in return for their recommendation to the slabbering, knuckle-scraping hordes of bigots that they vote Labour.
Glasgow City Council policy is, and has been for some time, to reduce the number of fascist and sectarian parades which disrupt traffic, offend the sensibilities of the citiens, and attract drunken vermin to follow them, staggering through the streets of the city, and presenting the most appalling image of our city to visitors and locals alike.
At the meeting on Monday, Matheson unilaterally declared to the bigoted, anti-Catholic Orange Order that he would change the policy in return for their votes.
There we have it: Matheson throws all principle and any residual scrap of decency and tolerance out of the window for his political gain. This greasy apparatchik, who stands accused of ordering the bullying of vulnerable people, is happy to jump into bed with the shaven-headed, tattooed, swivel eyed thugs of the fascist Orange Order."tommyballgovan.blogspot.com.es/2012/05/why-did-snp-fail-in-glasgow-mainly.html

Well, 45% of em. If the remaining 55% couldn't be arsed then they've no grounds whatsofeckingever to complain.... SNP have a majority government in Scotland and 494 councillors compared to Lab's 380 or whatever. But Lab still control GCC. It took several generations to forge that majority and it could take another generation yet to overturn it. That said, I'm fairly content with having two Labs and two SNPs in my ward. I am SO going to play them off against each other to improve things of import to this community, and so should we ALL... ;D

Actually it is a green white and orange flag the GCC kow tow to. However you are correct about the decision to allow the orange order to march, if they ban it they should also ban any ira catholic march too. I would be happy for that to happen but as the bigoted catholic mafia run GCC it is unlikely, even they are more scared of the SNP than their normal mortal enemies the orange order !!
