Panic's too strong a word but I'm supposed to be in Edinburgh tomorrow. Weather forecast for 6 am onwards: Mist. Followed by Fog. Then Snow. Followed by Light Snow. And thereafter Sleet.
I just KNOW I'll arrive at Queen Street Station in the a.m. to utter chaos. Wrong type of mist/fog/snow/sleet. Madness on the departure screens, "no it's Platform 3, not 4, oh wait, try Platform 11..." and 'No Hot Drinks can be served on any service due to the adverse weather"..
Then the sole 3 carriage train that actually departs for Waverley'll be bursting to the gunnels with about 3000 besuited souls in hideously incongruous furry Davy Crocket hats all stressing over being late for meetings, yelling into their mobiles "I'm in a tunnel.."
Any chance of a lift in your 4x4, Nota? ;D I'll bring my Greatest Disco Hits of the 70s and a hipflask lest we get stranded at Harthill.

Another cloudless sky and boy, did Scotland look beautiful today. As ever, Edinburgh several degrees colder than Glasgow but Princes St Gardens beautifully lit up and thousands out at the German Xmas market. God I love my country...

Just arrived at Carrick Castle had to pass 3 cars on the single track road as they were stuck in snow from the turn off at the Rest and be thankful, it is a single track road with passing places. One was a Nissan 4x4 one was a Mitsibushi 4x4 and a wee Ford Ka. I suspect although 4x4 's they had road tyres or just had no idea how to drive in the snow? Cold here but the wee but 'n Ben is cosy yet and the Kindle will be getting a doing!!

Yeah Landies are the greatest mud crawlers here. The most popular for serious off road work is the Toyota breed Landcruisers and Utilities (pick-ups). Best of the lot is the Range Rover Never tried 4wd in snow only mud, water and sand. If you havent been taught the technique you get stuck ("for Christ's sake stop revving the bugger so hard") Big mouth lol Bogged

Three weeks to the shortest day and it's the coldest night of the year yet (bar May where it wasn't far short...) Sheet ice on the pavements and black ice on the roads in our city tonight. Me and Mr R nearly couped it into someone's garden earlier, such are the treacherous driving conditions... Glasgow City Council gritters/salters nowhere to be seen, other than treating Council building pavements, this week. Our local bus has to traverse a high hill (untreated again tonight) so that's everyone reliant on it's cut off for the next couple of days. Even if they COULD make it as far as the bus-stop given the inch-thick sheet ice, caused by mountains of wet leaves (unpicked-up by GCC last month) freezing over AND another thing, salt bins. I asked a local councillor last winter to make sure more were available in this residential area, which he did. But it'd seem the fit, healthy denizens of this parish don't give a flying one. Probably doesn't even occur to them that some of their fellow mortals walk on pavements. Get out there with a shovel and do your bit for your community, you self-centred entitled bstrds! Mr R's been out salting our bit, so what's everyone else's excuse? Too busy watching the X Factor? GRRRRRRRRRRRR.
