WELL! They say pride comes before a fall. Two days ago Black Beauty went in for her MOT. And failed, for the first time Not on engineering or mechanics but rusted bodywork underneath, having not been garaged and thus ravaged by the Scottish climate. Repairs quote was way more than double the £500 Mr R paid for her I don't mind admitting I gret a bit yesterday. BUT---the most amazing thing just happened today ;D Mr R got a tip-off from one of his BMW forum mates last night and headed over (by bus! SO unlike him...) to a garage in Ibrox to view a trade in. We are now the extremely proud owners of a T Reg 7 Series that we just had a hurl in. This is THE most beautiful car! It purrs, it goes fast, it's lovely to look at and it has all manner of custom doings inside its cream leather, chrome & walnut interior and it's only done 120,000 miles. Mr R tells me when new back in 1999 it would've had a £50-£60K spec. Ours for £750 cash, 13 years on, can you credit it? ;D What a racket the car business is... Luck? Karma? Coincidink? Whatever.

Sorry to here your "J" rego has gone and hope your newer one gives as good service.
Of course we dont have rust here but we do get from time to time infestations of Pacific Moth in cars, particularly near the coast. Its easily spotted turns steel reddish brown and eats holes in it
