Unconfirmed reports coming in that GG has taken Bradford West by election by a huge majority from Labour. Well, that'll sure raise the level of debate in the House. ;D
If true (and I hope it is!) what a serious wakeup call for the coalition. Interesting times.

I think it is more of a wake up call for labour than the coalition. The coalition would have almost as much chance of having a tory elected in Bradfordistan than they would have in the SNP homeland. GG is a rabble rousing opportunist and he is witty, accurate unless it is about himself, massive ego and loves to attack the government, which is fine by me.

I can't stand the man. He is self-serving, egotistical, vain and . . . wait, he's a 'politician so what should I expect?
Bradfordistan, Bormes? Tut tut.

I wonder if he'll be a better M.P. for Bradford West than he was for Bethnal Green and Bow, where he was notable for always being somewhere other than either constituency or parliament.

Admirable Scottish cringe; a perfect illustration of it. GG is a damn clever, educated, moral Scottish politician and he has stuck to his guns all his days. He's the most honest speaker and the best rhetorician in British politics. He ploughs his own furrow. You "can't stand" that? And please, don't bring up big brother. It's got absolutely nothing to do with his politics. Personally I am delighted at this win and I look forward to the havoc he will wreak in that utterly demeaned and tarnished House - and in "New Labour" in particular. I just hope he manages to inflict some damage before he gets bored with the fact that there is nothing in Westminster that is anywhere near his intellectual level. Interesting times.

Tall Poppy Syndrome I am delighted at his win ;D We need people like GG in parliament and perhaps this massive majority will be the start of a major tide turning against the turgid doings of Labour and the Tories. By the way, Mini, where do you stand on the various Chinatowns in major cities all over the globe? Is that a tut tut moment as well now? ;D What about Little Italy in NYC?

I tend to agree with Westy, GG will certainly stir things up in theUK Gov.t He is very, very accurate about bliar and the warmongering, however I can never call him a morally correct human being. He was a rascal in Dundee and he would have been probably jailed over the missing money and his expenses if not for the Conveiniant fire which destroyed all the evidence ahainst him and his co accused !! Apart from that people like him are needed and like some criminals it is a pity he does not use his fine mind for good all the time, he is a rabble rouser of the highest order and has huge Islamic support, although I suspect they are using him as an acceptable face for now, to further their own agenda. Which will soon be Sharia law for all cases instead of the current disgrace of only civil cases. Interesting and challenging.

Not sure what you mean by this, Bormes?
"like some criminals it is a pity he does not use his fine mind for good all the time"
Personally I can't think of an instance where GG has spoken anything other than sense. Maybe I've missed something...
It's odd how the guy completely polarises people. Personally I think it'd be good that folks think for themselves a bit more rather than being dictated to by the tabloids who, to an amoeba, hate Galloway because he stands for moral truths that don't compute with their skewed values.
Anyone with the guts to raise their head above the parapet'll get shot down in flames and ridiculed. The redtops control the UKE, make no mistake about it. So powerful now that most pollies get in bed with them so as not to be a target.
And MANY good people don't enter politics because they've had an effing life and know they'll be torn apart for every indiscretion, even if committed as young people in the dim and distant past.
George Galloway has both conviction and guts in equal measure. I am glad he's back in Westminster.

I think you misunderstand me (poor me !!) I like what he does when he digs at bliar and this Govt. but I am Not dewy eyed I know his first wife as I think I told you one time, and he was VERY lucky to get away with it in Dundee and I can't forget that. However I look forward to him being a thorn in any Govt's flesh and he is an excellent orator, however he has a massive ego and is not as good as he thinks he is. Reminds me of connolly in that.

Do you also like what he's doing here, Bormes? ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrdFFCnYtbkWhat you call ego, I might call conviction. Perhaps we'll agree to disagree on that one, my friend.
