As usual mini, you have ignored questions, Hyndland the S/E of? Yeah I think you are just a wee wummin in the S/E and you know fine which S/E. Why should any country wish another country to run it? What do you and other people who wish to stay under the UK banner think about Eire, should they like Scotland who were forced into the idea of the UK? They used bloodshed to free themselves from the UK Personally I would never encourage that, however I would rather be poorer and be run by our own people, not by those who can only see the wealthy S/E as important. (and if you do not know where I mean, you are more stupid than the wee wummin you think you are.) Tell me more about me pls Bormes - fascinating! Are you asking me to comment on the Irish situation. If you want to open a new topic then go ahead and I might bother to look at it tho not likely to contribute to it. I don't see our position as being run by another country - no (ubiquitous) chip on my shoulder.

I don't see our position as being run by another country - no (ubiquitous) chip on my shoulder. So those 500+ MPs who represent English constituencies have no bearing on running Scotland, or for that matter Wales or Northern Ireland. You are quite happy with an English majority Tory government running Scotland ( wales and northern ireland) then?

Mini, I can't really say much about you, I only repeated what you called yourself and I tend to agree.
No I am not asking you personally to comment on Eire, I was not talking about Northern Ireland, however the question is out there for anyone to answer, why should Scotland not be like Eire and we wish to do the same but without the bloodshed.
If wishing to have one's country run by one's own people means one has a chip on their shoulder, I am well balanced because I have a chip on both shoulders.
We are waiting to see if You can come up with some answers to Nota's pertinent question? Or is this your usual Parachute in and run comments?

A question or rather 2 in one I know nothing about the in & outs of your independence ok Now Do you plan to become a member of the EU? If so isnt that just changing foreign bureaucracies? Norway isnt a member of EU (wise people) You mention Eire, once again I only know what I read but wasnt that country in a false heaven sponsored largely by the EU & finance industry & now in deep shit? By encouragement New Zealand with a smaller population than Scotland is standing successfully on its own 2 feet after being dumped by UK. PS we will continue to buy your scotch but there aint much else you can offer us. PPS after a clout on the ear I have to say your lassies aint half bad & well worth the trip

Oz, Personally I would not wish to be in the EU as a full member, however that I am certain would be voted on if independence comes.
My comment about Eire is not about their economic position now or before. My comment is beacause in the UK we seem to have some sort of rose coloured spectacles when Eire is mentioned, I bring them up as knowing how many people in the UK have such a high regard for them, I would like to know why they should be different from Scotland, we both wish Independence, Eire got theirs by bloody means, we should have ours by vote, yet very few who are so angry and outright obnoxious to think that Scotland would wish to have Independence, think that it is OK for Eire, despite the means they used to have it.
We as a nation can continue to trade with the EU and anyone else who wishes to trade with us. We also have had a rather lot of doctors, engineers, archtects and all sorts of professional people move to other countries and do well for their adopted country, meaning that we nurture a wealth of talent and if having a chance to have our education system overhauled under our own system we shall produce again the quality of professionals we had before. I think our education system since Harold Wilson has been deliberately dumbed down. An example that comes to mind is the laughable system that bliar brought in where no one fails, everyone passes everyone can go to Uni., don't upset anyone by telling them they failed. FFS, We need to get the finger out with our education system.
The question I have to doubters, is Why should Scotland not be in charge of it's own future? Just recently for a fact, we would never have been in bush and bliars illegal wars. What do the doubters think of that?
Oz I think you would recognise from your time in Scotland that we have the people who are fit enough to run our own country? perhaps well, perhaps not but how dare anyone denie us the right to decide for ourselves?

Interesting dont you think you should nut out what you are going to do before becoming independent? Have an agenda.
One of the reasons our Republican referendum failed was they could not offer a realistic well thought our alternative (trust us we will work out details later ... Voters said No f*cking way)
I would point out that we are a Constitutional Monarchy unlike the UK

Oz, I would suggest that Mr.Salmond and the rest of his political helpers and the Scots who are involved with running our country will have a very good base already to work from, just like every other country of the many that have recently become independent. It is not as if we are starting from scratch isit? All of our infrastructure is already in place but by the time comes for the vote and if won then a date set for the event, I would again suggest the fervour and the uplifting excitement will mean those responsible will be well ready for the event and an awful lot has already been explained but unfortunately (like the question about the EU) Mr.Salmond's explanation has been ignored by Whitehall and that continues to cause confusion and Whitehall NEED the Scottish oil and have used it to prop up thier economy so far. What would the English do if tyey only received 8% of the revenue? Which is what they would be offered. We would take our share of the debt the UK has but of course then we would have 8% of the Crown assets too. Which would have been huge compared to even what it is just now if brown had not sold the gold reserves. All these things put out by Whitehall and the doubters mean nothing, we should have the right to decide for ourselves and if it is a yes, then let us get on with it and I am certain, having been in adverse situations in my life, on a number of times, then a Scot is who I would like beside me, so if the way ahead is hard, long and tough, then I have the confidence that us Scots can and will prevail, all we say is, give us a chance, let us not be told we have a begging bowl and rely on the English or anyone else for that matter. Let us be responsible for ourseves not some faceless dumf*cker in Whitehall. Oz, have a wee look at the last SNP manifesto, I would suggest it is a message of hope and I can truthfully say, since the SNP have really stirred up politics in Scotland, whether one agrees with them or not, there is no doubt it shook the old parties up so much they have stopped almost from taking their vote for granted and it has forced them to think what might be in Scotland's interest rather than Whitehalls. That alone is a good thing. I demand any doubter to show where Alex Salmond and the SNP have not put Scotland's interest first.

Oz you are correct, We are subjects without a constitution, which is quite funny really, when you think how many nations copied our Parliamentary and social systems. As far as I am aware and since other nations have become independent, we would automatically have a seat, although like you, I would prefer to only trade with them.
Down here, in the South of France many, many people even ex pat English friends are now speaking of our attempt and in fairness none so far have been rude enough to suggest we should not be allowed to vote for ourselves. So far all the Eu people we have spoken to are in favour of Scotland going alone. I am not sure but I think there is quite an anti English feeling on the continent, just as there was so much sympathy for the N.Ireland terrorists, who were seen as being crushed by England. Rose coloured spectacles again. I personally think that the EU for trade is a good idea but it has run so far out of hand with ridiculous interference and ridiculous laws, that seem only in the UK we adhere to. One great example is in our Pubs and Toilets in Restaurants, even a wee place in the UK has to have all sorts of doors, extra doors so many toilets for so many seats and disabled access is a must, yet on the continent one toilet stuck up in an attic will do and no pulley system for diasbled people !! Free travel with an EU Passport is also good within the EU community. A national Police force in Scotland would be good too, as it would in the UK, I remember being told it would never happen by some of the same people who say the same about us having home rule, yet it does look like the UK will have a national Police force. The very least that can be said is that Alex Salmond and the SNP have made the political masters in Whitehall sit up and listen for once and have been more careful in how they deal with Scotland for the moment. Long may it last, or at least until we have Independence!!

Nah we huvva constitutional monarchy too - it jist means that the head of state disnae huv divine providence The UK doesn't have a written constitution, it has a mish-mash of stuff - usually case law etc that makes up what westminster likes to call a constitution They are shit scared of having a written one, as it makes it harder for them to pull wool over eyes and do things they like Scotland will have a written constitution

One of the things the UK Parliament did recently was take away the right of Scotland who under "The Act of Union" Had it's own seperate legal system with it's own court being the highest in the land. It has without us voting given this right to the new English? Superior Court? I say English as it seems based upon English law and not Scots law which as I said we should have had under the Act of Union.
