A question or rather 2 in one I know nothing about the in & outs of your independence ok Now Do you plan to become a member of the EU? If so isnt that just changing foreign bureaucracies? Norway isnt a member of EU (wise people) You mention Eire, once again I only know what I read but wasnt that country in a false heaven sponsored largely by the EU & finance industry & now in deep shit? By encouragement New Zealand with a smaller population than Scotland is standing successfully on its own 2 feet after being dumped by UK. PS we will continue to buy your scotch but there aint much else you can offer us. PPS after a clout on the ear I have to say your lassies aint half bad & well worth the trip Membership of the EU will be decided upon by the Scottish people according to what's in their best interests, Oz. You've already said you're anti EU so I won't try to persuade you otherwise, other than to say that I believe Scotland would be capable of negotiating terms to mutual advantage, if and when the time is right. We already have very strong trading links with Europe and I doubt our oil wealth would be a disadvantage in the negotiations. The Scottish attitude to Europe is vastly different to the English one. I suspect we'd be more likely to embrace the opportunities and work collaboratively rather than the English way which often seems to despise 'foreign jonnies' as being somehow inferior. Then again, large swathes of the English populace very often comes across as hating just about everyone, which is hardly a good starting point. As you say, Norway's not an EU member but they are members of the European trading alliance, which is an option for the Scots too. It's hardly beyond us to decide what's best for us when in possession of the facts. Re Eire, yes--they have suffered badly from being in the Euro during the recession in recent years, due partly to a mental property boom some years ago. However, their economy is showing signs of recovery now. I suspect the damage has been temporary and confined mostly to those who invested heavily in property. AND you are wrong about whisky being the only Scottish export worth a f*ck to Australasia. We send you our talented people without which you'd be up the nearest gum tree. ;D

Rolo rote What can I say about that My earliest family came from Wick in 1829 on SS Mangles; My wife from Glasgow 1968. Not to mention Lachan Macquarie but after these fine examples have to think a bit... 2 or 3 explorers. No notable politicians. One Pollie who is an absolute idiot & has a broad weejie accent. He only opens mouth to change feet. My only Scot import was from Coatbridge or Airdrie or around there, a very balanced bloke he had a chip on each shoulder, Wait a minute Eric Bogle, AC/DC, Jimmy Barnes, Jimmy Young Here we go www.ltscotland.org.uk/scotsandaustralia/immigrantsscotsaustralians/index.asp quite a few in here including a chocolate maker & a biscuit maker As for the rest of your post its informative Thank you very much. Thats what I was asking for. I would not have the arrogance to even hint of what I think is best for Scotland. I just havent the information to form an opinion.

Wasn't there a family called the Mangles in Neighbours when it was the best programme on tv back in the late 80s?
The mighty Joe Mangle (Mark Little) moved here many years ago. Big fan of Scotland he is.
But I digress...........

This Mangles was a Convict ship of 1820s made 9 trips to Oz. One of my family served on her for the first 4 voyages. From Lachlan MacQuarie's diary Mangles is not a very uncommon name in Victoria

Obviously the writers of Neighbours knew that, Oz ;D Funny looking at this pretty terrible old clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgTpdIhM1sACheck out in the background; Alan Dale (Jim Robinson) now in the OC and Guy Pearce didn't turn out too shabby either ;D Whatever happened to Neighbours extra Russell Crowe I wonder? Why here he is now with Kylie, Jason and Kyle McLaughlin outside the pub.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=InsH44a0QKsKylie, Jason, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance and 'Madge' all now live in the UKE. Stefan Dennis moved to Glasgow for a while too, for to work on a TV series here, but is now back in Neighbours I have heard. <So off-topic now, head in hands, gives self hearty slap>

"Mr Cameron was speaking after Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said she would make a formal complaint to the United Nations over the disputed archipelago. Buenos Aires has revived its long-standing claim to sovereignty over the islands, which Argentina knows as Las Malvinas, as the 30th anniversary of the 1982 war between the countries approaches. Speaking during a visit to Sweden, Mr Cameron said he had no doubt that the UN would back the islands' status as a self-governing British overseas territory. ''I think Argentina will find, when she goes to the United Nations, that it is absolutely a part of the UN charter to support self-determination and the people of the Falkland Islands want to maintain their status, their connection to the UK,'' the Prime Minister told reporters. ''What we've said is absolutely clear and right under the UN, which is to say that as long as the people of the Falkland Islands want to maintain that status, we will make sure they do and we will defend the Falkland Islands properly to make sure that's the case.''
When asked if the same vigorous defence of Scotland’s right to self-determination would be given - a huge coughing fit resulted in substantial tea spillage and he had nowhere to dunk his biscuit.

I suspect these words might just come back to haunt him; " it is absolutely a part of the UN charter to support self-determination" And this is the Westminster government that tries to put legal arguments that Scotland needs their permission to run a referendum? Ahaha. Ahahahahaaaaa. Aahahahahahahaaaaaaa! ;D ;D ;D Diddy

I tried listening to the interview clip but it's bad for the blood pressure. Fuck off Trump. And take your bloody golf and hotels with you.

I have to admit I was kind of thinking he was doing Scotland some good by bringing a wonderful golfing place to International people and to bring jobs to Scotland, however his prattle about this is ill informed , bombastic, bullying and not in his interest in the long run.

Let's face it, Bormes, he brings nothing to the party other than his money. If he was broke would anyone ANYWHERE listen to him? No, you'd take one look at how he presents himself and tell him to take a hike. The man's a psychopath. Menie's a vanity project, nothing more. He wants to 'own' stuff and 'own' people. That's not how we do things in Scotland.
